🗑️ Your Right to Delete: You have full control over your data. This policy explains how to request data deletion and what happens to your information.

1. Your Right to Data Deletion

At TakeCare, we respect your privacy and your right to control your personal data. You have the right to request deletion of your data at any time, for any reason.

  • Global Best Practice: We honor deletion requests worldwide

2. How to Delete Your Data

Method 1: In-App Deletion (Recommended)

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the TakeCare app
  2. Go to Profile tab
  3. Tap on Settings
  4. Scroll to Account Management
  5. Tap Delete Account
  6. Confirm deletion by entering your phone number
  7. Tap Permanently Delete Account

Method 2: Email Request

Send an email to privacy@takecare.app with:

  • Subject: "Data Deletion Request"
  • Include: Your registered phone number or email
  • Include: Account username (if applicable)
  • Optional: Reason for deletion (helps us improve)

Response Time: We will confirm within 48 hours and complete deletion within 30 days.

Method 3: Support Request

Contact our support team at support@takecare.app for assistance with account deletion.

3. What Data Gets Deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:

3.1 Account Information:

  • ✅ Phone number and email address
  • ✅ Username and profile information
  • ✅ Authentication tokens and sessions
  • ✅ Account preferences and settings

3.2 Health Data:

  • ✅ All medicine records
  • ✅ Dose logs and history
  • ✅ Medication schedules and reminders
  • ✅ Stock tracking information
  • ✅ Adherence statistics and charts
  • ✅ Health notes and observations

3.3 Family Data:

  • ✅ Family member profiles you created
  • ✅ Family medications and schedules
  • ✅ Family health tracking data

3.4 App Usage Data:

  • ✅ App usage analytics
  • ✅ Feature interactions
  • ✅ Search history
  • ✅ Notification logs

4. Data Retention (What We Keep)

Legal Requirements: Some data must be retained for legal compliance:

4.1 Retained for Legal Compliance:

  • Transaction Records: If you had any payments (retained for 7 years for tax purposes)
  • Fraud Prevention: Phone number hash (prevents re-registration for abuse)
  • Legal Disputes: Records related to active legal matters

4.2 Anonymized Data:

We may retain anonymized, aggregated statistics that cannot identify you personally, such as:

  • General app usage trends
  • Feature popularity metrics
  • Performance statistics

This data has no personal identifiers and cannot be linked back to you.

5. Deletion Timeline

Deletion Process:

  • Day 0: You request deletion
  • Day 0-1: We confirm receipt of your request
  • Day 1-7: Your account is deactivated (can still be recovered)
  • Day 7-30: Data is permanently deleted from production systems
  • Day 30-90: Data is purged from backup systems
  • Day 90: Deletion complete and irreversible

Grace Period: You have 7 days to cancel the deletion request. After 7 days, deletion cannot be reversed.

6. Important Warnings

⚠️ BEFORE YOU DELETE:

  • Irreversible: After 7 days, data cannot be recovered
  • All Devices: You'll be logged out on all devices
  • Family Data: Family profiles you created will be deleted
  • No Backup: We cannot restore your data after deletion
  • New Account: If you re-register, you start fresh with no history

6.1 Export Your Data First:

Recommendation: Before deleting, export your data:

  1. Go to Profile → Settings
  2. Tap Export My Data
  3. Download JSON file with all your information
  4. Save to your device or cloud storage

7. Third-Party Services

TakeCare uses third-party services. Here's how deletion affects them:

7.1 Supabase (Database):

  • All your data is deleted from Supabase within 30 days
  • Backups are purged within 90 days

7.2 Device Storage:

  • Uninstalling the app removes local data
  • Clear app cache in device settings for complete removal

8. Children's Data

If you are a parent or guardian who created profiles for children under 13:

  • You can delete their data separately without deleting your account
  • Go to Family Member profile → Delete Profile
  • Children's data follows the same deletion process
